Kara has worked with young children for many years, initially as an elementary school teacher for special needs students. After her third child was born, she transitioned to staying home with her kids while actively volunteering in their schools. She joined Hollis Preschool in 2016 as an aid in the four-year-old class and subsequently became lead teacher for the two year old class and kindergarten readiness. This year Kara is the lead teacher for both the 2 and 3 year old classes. A self-described “hands-on” teacher, Kara helps the children learn by doing, keeping them active as they also listen and absorb the lessons around them. She is known for her creative projects, such as making a car or castle out of boxes, mixing potions, and making pizza or ice cream. Kara grew up in California and holds a bachelors degree in speech and hearing science from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She is currently working toward her master’s degree in education at Wilkes College.

She has lived in Brookline since 2006 and is married with three children, two cats, and a dog. She enjoys sewing, travel, and watching her children play their various sports.
